Ms. Libby Payan
SSU Alumni Association Representative / Alumna / Senior Program Planner/Administrator, Napa Valley Transportation Authority
Libby was born and raised in Southern California but always envisioned herself going to college elsewhere. Ever since stepping on campus as a sophomore in high school, Libby dreamed of attending Sonoma State University. Her dreams became a reality when she was accepted into SSU during the Fall 2009 semester. During her time at Sonoma State, she was a summer orientation leader, peer mentor, elections commissioner, teacher’s assistant, Fairfield Osborn Preserve naturalist, and senator for community affairs. She graduated in 2014 with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Planning and a B.A. in Economics.
Right after graduating, Libby was hired as an intern with the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) District, where she ended up working in a variety of roles for six and a half years. During that time, she learned invaluable information and discovered her passion for public transit. She took that knowledge with her to the Napa Valley Transportation Authority where she currently works as a Senior Program Planner/Administrator focusing on the Vine Transit bus network in Napa County.
Libby joined the SSU Alumni Association in 2016 and is the immediate Past President of the organization. During her off time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, running, biking, baking, exploring the beauty of Napa County and watching baseball.
