Mr. Toby Tyler
Alumnus / Retired, PG & E
Toby culminated a 25-year career at Pacific Gas & Electric Co. as director of a team that managed PG&E’s strategic technology suppliers. Toby’s PG&E experience also included several years running the company’s effort to lease space on PG&E poles and towers to telecommunications companies, as well as other assignments as strategic planner, state energy lobbyist, and power supply planner.
From work begun as a student as Sonoma State, Toby established a periodic macro-economic forecast specific to Sonoma County. In recognition of these efforts, Toby was named Sonoma State Distinguished Alumni in 2001.
Toby has served on the Sonoma State University Alumni Association Board of Directors, including a role as Vice President.
Toby has lived in Sonoma County for 40 years and in Petaluma since 1994. He is actively involved in the North Bay’s music scene as a performing musician with several bands. Toby holds an MBA from U.C. Berkeley and a BA in Economics from Sonoma State University.
